Dr. Grace Chew
Dr Grace Chew is a specialist breast oncoplastic, laparoscopic and general surgeon caring for women in Melbourne for over a decade. She trained at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and specialises in treating patients suffering from breast cancer and benign breast conditions, as well as thyroid conditions. She is one of few surgeons that provide immediate breast reconstruction in collaboration with experienced plastic surgeons. The advantage of this approach is that the tumour is removed, while still preserving the appearance of the breast.
Dr. Chew is also experienced in managing patients with hernias and gall bladder conditions, with keyhole surgery. She is able to remove skin cancers and skin lesions in her private clinic. Together with female staff, she can treat common surgical conditions after childbirth, including haemorrhoids, anal fissures and umbilical hernias.
She established the Northpark Breast Service at NorthPark Private Hospital in 2012, comprising a multidisciplinary team of dedicated breast surgeons and nurses who can manage complex disorders of the breast and breast cancer, with local diagnostic and treatment facilities close to home for patients in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. She also performs oncoplastic surgery in central Melbourne at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Epworth Hospital, Cotham Private Hospital and Warringal Private Hospital.
Dr Chew has public hospital appointments as a consultant breast surgeon at the Austin Hospital and The Northern Hospital. She is a breast cancer researcher and consultant surgeon at St Vincent’s BreastScreen. She is a senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne since 2010.
